Brief

Tandem was proud to work with the Ashburton District Council on their SOLGM Local Government Excellence Awards video in early 2018. The video was needed to showcase the "It's Our Place" campaign ran to encourage the people of Ashburton to have their say in the district's Long Term Plan.

The SOLGM awards recognise exceptional and innovative projects in local government. 

When the council approached us, their original brief was to combine the exisiting footage from the "It's Our Place" campaign video and new footage of interviews with various district councillors who were part of the campaign. Tandem won the contract by providing a professional production team to film the additional interviews and edit the new video into an awards-ready format.

Production

All planning and question scripting had been completed before shoot day. Each councillor was given the planned questions to prepare their answers and briefed to give these answers succinctly to keep the video tight and engaging. 

One of Tandem's cameramen headed down to Ashburton one sunny morning in February to film the additional interviews. Seven councillors were interviewed, all of whom informed the viewer on the background of the "It's Our Place" campaign, what it was all about and why it deserves to win at the SOLGM awards. 

The awards video was then edited with the original "It's Our Place" footage and the new interview footage as per the original brief and delivered back to the Ashburton Council for use in the awards ceremony. 

We wish the Ashburton District Council and all other candidates good luck for this years' awards, being held on Thrusday 12th April in Auckland.
